Press info

Sketch is a Norwegian ambient duo who, with only a few legendary and rare releases. The band consists of Tor Jørgensen and Kai Mikalsen from the northern parts of Norway. They made heavy dub-inflicted ambient, organic and with rich texture, inspired by Brian Eno and John Hasse and ”modern” ambient like The Orb and Biosphere.

Abeyance vol 1 was recorded in 1995, and originally released in 1997 in a limited special package on Sketch's own label Mold Records.

"Summer '95 we had enough material for our next release on Apollo, and we send a ready mastered dat-tape to Belgium. Some months later we got the message that they would not release it. And in the summer '96 we had yet a master ready. We send it to Belgium, and hoped for a better response this time. Mostly because it had more rhythms and was more urban than the last we send down. This time we lost all contact with the company, and we didn't get any response if they wanted to release the album.

In january/february '97 we got feed up, and started the planning on releasing the two cd's on our own label, in co work with Tore Bøe of Origami. Kai worked in a print shop at that time, and tired of the regular plastic cd covers, he designed a paper cover for the release. In May we send the masters to "Future Age Music" in england, and in june Kai printed the cover. In august the package was ready, and the work on distribution started. The package contains of a fold-in box, two cd envelopes, some leafs with info and a 12 pages book with illustrations. All the graphics was done by Kai using photoshop manipulating photos taken by Tor."
