Press info

Først var det Yazoos "Only You", året etter "Make It Good" av Fink og Velvet Undergrounds "Femme Fatale". I fjor ble Disney-klassikeren "When You Wish Upon A Star" og tittellåten fra filmen "Brotherhood", "Hero", av Family Of The Year innspilt.

As the name implies, Cover Ups is a collection of Flunk covers. Cover songs have always been a part of Flunk right from the first ever Flunk track in the making, a cover of New Order’s "Blue Monday". All of the Flunk albums have included cover songs, on the album, and as single b-sides. So Flunk love covers, always did, always will.

There is no "Blue Monday" version on "Cover Ups - The Home Recordings". It was never recorded in the same setting as the nine recordings on this compilation. Most of the songs were recorded in living rooms during the band’s christmas parties. It has become a tradition, doing one, two or three unpractised covers after a meal of Indian or Chinese. First it was Yazoo’s "Only You". Fink’s "Make It Good" and the Velvet Underground song "Femme Fatale" were recorded on the same night. Last year, the Disney classic "Wish Upon A Star" and the theme song by Family Of The Year from the fantastic movie "Brotherhood" were put on tape. New Order’s "True Faith" was recorded in a hotel room in Paris’ Mares area, Depeche Mode’s "See You" is an outtake from the recordings for the "Personal Stereo" album and "Silent Night" was recorded before one of the band’s very few Oslo concerts, just across the river from the venue, in Ulf’s kitchen. The Saint Thomas cover, "Last Word", was also recorded at home.

Some of the great things about doing covers are: a) they’re finished songs, b) they work, c) they’re good fun and take your mind off things, d) they kill time when you’re at a hotel and waiting for a gig and e) all of the band instantly like them. So there will be more coming, it’s a promise!
