Beatservice Records are thrilled to welcome vivacious five-piece b0ka to the fold with the brilliantly eccentric crossover pearl 'Stone Cold Girl (pt 1)'

Having previously enjoyed a successful release spell in the mid-2010s, multi-talented Norwegian outfit b0ka have regrouped to resume their collective production quest. The band made an instant splash when their inaugural began arriving in 2013. Winning over a throng of fans and tastemaker support, they released music on prestige labels including Eskimo, Paper Recordings, Diamond Club, and their own b0ka Recordings before pushing pause on the project to pursue equally well-regarded musical outlets. Having spent time recording as Lakeshouse, OJKOS, Bjørnar Sira and Den Kosmiske Overorden, the players found time to revisit long-lost b0ka session tapes during the throes of the pandemic. This journey of rediscovery ignited a desire to produce an all-new canon of work under the latent moniker.

Combining a kaleidoscopic blend of styles and influences, b0ka are back with a bang, with their first single in six years serving as a tantalising taster to a full-blown album scheduled for release next year. 'Stone Cold Girl (Pt 1)' bursts with pop-meets club thrust, with funk-coated guitar and fizzing synths cascading over snarling bass as the honeyed vocal takes centre stage. The sing-along chorus combines with floor-focused rhythms and intricate production finesse, with idiosyncratic swells and impossibly catchy melodies forming the most memorable of comebacks.

Harnessing far-flung influences with a pop-ready sophistication, this is striking work from b0ka marking their return to action in stunning style and expertly whetting the audience's appetite for the album set to follow.

Want Me To (Edit)

Press info

Beatservice welcome back vivacious quintet b0ka with the gorgeously crafted dream-pop of 'Want Me To'.

Back after a six-year hiatus, the Norwegian outfit pick up where they left off, having previously made an instant impact with a flurry of releases just under a decade ago. Polychromatic sounds arrived via prestige labels including Eskimo, Paper Recordings, and Diamond Club alongside their own b0ka Recordings before the band took some well-deserved time out to work on external projects. Recording variously as Lakeshouse, OJKOS, Bjørnar Sira and Den Kosmiske Overorden, the talented creators excelled in their respective pursuits before the onset of the pandemic allowed them the opportunity to regroup and re-assemble under the b0ka banner. After rediscovering a series of long-lost session tapes, the fuse was well and truly lit, leading to a revitalised drive to compose fresh material.

After making a welcome return to release action with the funk-flecked crossover jam 'Stone Cold Girl (Pt 1)', the b0ka players maintain momentum with a typically striking follow-up. 'Want Me To' sees amorous vocals dance across a blissful mid-tempo groove as throbbing bass shimmering rhythm guitar and trombone elegantly combine over crisp drums. Warm, evocative and beautifully constructed, the music finds b0ka in sparkling form, once again pitching pop-savvy compositional thrust alongside diverse sonic influences.

'Want Me To' is the second single taken from the hotly anticipated albumslated to arrive later in the year, its dreamy aesthetic and distinctive feel-good charm sure to find space across airwaves and gently swaying dance floors alike.

Let Go

Press info

Talented five-piece b0ka are back on Beatservice Records, riding high via the infectious crossover grooves of their latest single, 'Let Go'.

The b0ka boys have wasted no time regaining their position as one of Norway's most imaginative genre-blurring outfits since resuming release action in 2022. Following an extended hiatus, the quintet returned to the studio during the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, and the new material they crafted during those sessions is every bit as dazzling as the formative work that helped them win over countless admirers among the meta-dance community. Having taken diverging paths to record variously as Lakeshouse, OJKOS, Bjørnar Sira and Den Kosmiske Overorden, b0ka quickly regained the warm glow of the spotlight with a pair of typically deft Beatservice singles, 'Stone Cold Girl' and 'Want Me Too'. Now back with the third single taken from their forthcoming album, the players again demonstrate a formidable compositional prowess alongside a devastating melodic magnetism.

'Let Go' arrives as some of b0ka's most accessible work to date, presenting a glorious fusion of alluring vocals, honeyed instrumentation, and propulsive rhythm. The shimmering lead vocal glides over a neatly-woven bed of life-affirming synths, driving bass and contagious guitar riffs, the immaculate orchestration neatly constructed with the band's typically refined production gloss.

As with the previous two singles, 'Let Go' fuels excitement for the eagerly awaited long-player set to follow later this year, its captivating melodies destined to power far beyond the underground into discerning pop realms.

Last Night (On Earth) (Edit)

Press info

Beatservice Records once again welcome the irrepressible five-piece outfit b0ka, who ride in with the disco-flecked hedonism of 'Last Night (On Earth)'.

Having broken a six-year hiatus with a trio of imaginatively-spun singles over the past few months, b0ka have quickly reclaimed their proud position high in the crossover dance canopy. The group's formative work for the likes of Eskimo, Paper Recordings, Diamond Club and b0ka Recordings won them a fervent following, and their recent material brilliantly demonstrates the players' exponential artistic growth during time spent exploring external projects. The band members' respective sounds recorded as Lakeshouse, OJKOS, Bjørnar Sira og Den Kosmiske Overorden ensured their compositional tools remained sharpened, and they've each embraced the opportunity to re-ignite the charismatic b0ka sound.

Following on from the beautifully pop-centric 'Let Go', their latest release sees them aim squarely for the clubs with the kinetic charge of 'Last Night (On Earth)'. Here, disco heat takes to the fore as sturdy bass propels the intoxicating lead vocal into an unforgettable chorus. Building further still, the arrangement explodes into a euphoric club climax, the warm-blooded intensity of the music sure to fire up even the most demanding of dancefloors.

'Last Night (On Earth)' is the final track to be lifted from the forthcoming album, 'Forever, My Friend'. Set against the previous singles, the music vividly demonstrates the depth and breadth of b0ka's creative vigour, once again whetting the collective appetite for the eagerly awaited long-player due to follow.

Press info

Beatservice Records are delighted to present the debut album from the irrepressible Norwegian outfit, b0ka, with 13 genre-surfing tracks lovingly presented on the gloriously pop-centric 'Forever, My Friend'.

Friends since as far back as kindergarten, the b0ka players released a selection of highly regarded singles between 2013 and 2016, with their music arriving via prestige imprints including Eskimo, Paper Recordings, Diamond Club, and their own b0ka Recordings. They've since pursued a diverse range of projects, including Lakeshouse, OJKOS, Bjørnar Sira and Den Kosmiske Overorden, with their expansive sounds routinely winning admirers throughout the global music community. The pandemic-induced lockdowns allowed the band an opportunity to re-visit long lost b0ka projects: reviewing dusty hard discs before funnelling the best morsels into the Sagrada Jukebox mixtape earlier this year. It was during this journey of sonic rediscovery that the masterfully diverse 'Forever, My Friend' was ushered into existence.

The yearning vocal of opener 'Oh Baby' sees the band at their most tender, with choral harmonies and drifting keys set over a sparse arrangement. 'Castaway' dramatically ratchets up the energy, with rousing piano chords, playful synths and soaring sax solo supporting the sing-along vocal over crisp drums and speaker-rocking bass. The pop-meets club thrust continues into 'Stone Cold Girl (Pt 1)', with funk-coated guitar and fizzing synths cascading over snarling bass as the honeyed vocal takes centre stage. 'Stone Cold Girl (Pt 2)' expertly displays b0ka's expansive range, with affecting vocals permeating delicate waves of atmospheric instrumentation.

'When You Touch Me' blends seemingly disparate forms into a magnetic pop roller, with jazz flute, funk guitar and majestic sax solo pitched over tropical rhythms as the radio-friendly vocal irresistibly soars. The 'Forever, My Friend' title track sees a striking falsetto vocal rising over a pulsing club rhythm as dextrous flute, disco strings and sparkling synths caress the heartfelt lead melody. Amorous vocals dance across the mid-tempo charge of 'Want Me To', with throbbing bass, shimmering rhythm guitar and trombone elegantly spun over crisp drums.

Harmonic vocals and atmospheric synths abound over the tension-building interlude, 'Give Up', before the unthinkably catchy 'Let Go' explodes into life. Shimmering lead vocal glides over a neatly-woven bed of life-affirming synths, driving bass and infectious guitar riffs, providing one of the album's most undeniably accessible moments. 'Hear Me Out' sees longing vocals take flight over a climactic arrangement, with melancholy sax and spacious pads floating over scattered drums and deeply-rooted bass.

The gorgeously atmospheric 'Fjompin' 67' displays yet another brightly coloured feather in the b0ka cap, with stunning vocal harmonies and dreamy orchestration expertly building into the dance-ready heat of 'Last Night On Earth'. Here, disco takes to the fore as sturdy bass propels the lead vocal into an unforgettable chorus section before the rolling arrangement explodes into a euphoric club climax. Finally, 'Life With Me' completes a truly remarkable collection, with psychedelic synths, sax motifs and earnest lead vocals joyously maintaining the four/four flex, its vocoder chorus and driving piano chords ensuring maximum dancefloor momentum.

Drawing on all-manner of far-flung influences and brilliantly assembling the components with a pop-ready sophistication, this is spectacular work from b0ka, marking their return to release action in breathtaking style.
